2.2 Design and construction. Tanks shall be designed and constructed in accordance with figure 1 and the envelope dimensions of the applicable referenced drawing (see 6.3).
2.2.1 Tank ferrules and block drains. Tank ferrules and block drains shall be designed and located in accordance with the applicable referenced drawing (see 6.3).
2.3 Mounting brackets. Mounting brackets shall be furnished where applicable and as designed and located in the applicable referenced drawing (see 6.3).
2.4 Protective plugs and caps. Threaded holes shall be fitted with protective plugs or caps.
2.5 Welding. Welding shall be of such quality as to preclude failure. Threads shall not be damaged after all welding operations are complete.
2.6 Pressure. Tanks shall be subjected to an air pressure of 250 pounds per square inch (psi) in accordance with SAE J10 without leaking or permanent deformation.
2.7 Tank finish. Interior and exterior of tank shall be cleaned, pre-treated, and primed for ferrous surfaces. Final top coat of tank exterior shall be a semi gloss alkyd enamel with low volatile organic compound (420 grams/liter maximum) content. The final top coat color shall be forest green, unless otherwise specified in the contract or order (see 6.2).
2.8 Identification and markings. Identification markings shall be permanent and legible and as a minimum, the manufacturer's identification code (CAGE), the contract number, and the Part or Identification Number (PIN).
3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.
4.1 Responsibility for inspections. The contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspections (examinations and tests).
4.2 Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID and that the product conforms to the producer's own drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and quality assurance practices. Items with known defects shall not be submitted for Government acceptance. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
